Data Collection & Handling

Information You Provide / Local Storage

• AI API Credentials & Preferences: Configured API keys, model selections, display settings, and custom prompts are stored locally in chrome.storage.local on your device. They are never sent to any server operated by the developer.
• Subtitle Text: Captured locally from YouTube videos you watch. Subtitle text is sent exclusively to the AI API endpoint you configure (or default provider) solely to generate video chapters and summaries.

Information We Do NOT Collect

The Extension does not collect, track, or sell your browsing history, personal identity, IP address, bookmarks, passwords, or usage analytics. It operates without any external backend infrastructure or tracking code.

Chrome Web Store Privacy Disclosure

The developer declares that YouTube Chapters:

• Does not collect or use your personal data outside of generating video chapters.
• Does not sell your data to third parties under any circumstances.
• Does not use or transfer your data for purposes unrelated to the item's core functionality.
• Does not use or transfer your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Permissions Justification

• storage — Required to save your display preferences, custom prompts, and model settings locally.
• sidePanel — Required to display the extension management interface in Chrome's side panel.
• Host Permissions (youtube.com) — Required to inject the content script that captures subtitle data and displays the chapter overlay.
